Spock Search

21 05 2007

After seeing Spock present at the Web2.0 Conference I have been anxiously awaiting my invitation to their service. Well I got it today, and was really let down to find out that their site was immediately flooded. I know it is beta, but come on guys, you knew that the site was going to get pounded, plan for it better. Another thing that I immediately disliked is the request to login to my email provider to download my contacts (you want my username and password?). I first saw this used on Yelp, and curiosity made me try it out, but afterward I was so paranoid that I went back and changed my email account password. Fortunately this is an optional request, though I didn’t even see the “Skip this step” link until someone pointed it out to me.

Well I hope Spock gets more servers up soon so I can enjoy this new service. It looked pretty bad ass at the conference.
